In this role, you will:

  • Build strong development skills. You’ll work with the latest technologies to build modular and maintainable features and products.
  • Work with a multi-faceted team. You’ll work most closely with our designers, community managers, and other software engineers.
  • Build features that make our products easier to use. We’re constantly experimenting with how to improve our products to benefit our users, and you’ll help track metrics and formulate ideas to improve and increase adoption on Portfolio.


  • Build new features. Use tools like Angular, Django, Python, Sass, css-modules, and more to build modular, componentized code.
  • Influence design thinking among development team. You have an appreciation for design-thinking and you believe that creating reusable code and consistent user experiences that work well together can empower engineers and designers to create better products.
  • Participate in pair programming and peer reviews. You’ll collaborate with other engineers on problems of all shapes and sizes, from code to new ideas and methodologies.
  • Provide input on how to make the products more usable. You will use our analytics tools, user research, and in-house community team to gather information and gain insights as to how people use Portfolio to drive new ideas.

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience working on JavaScript applications using UI libraries such as Material is a plus

What you’ll do

Work closely with the CEO, CDO and lead the development team, you will lead the technical direction and engineering management for all of our community products, working in partnership with product management, community management and design. You will recruit, develop, manage and lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for the full product life cycle across desktop and the web.

  • Ensure engineering excellence and rigor in architecture, execution and delivery. You will mentor leaders across the organization in leadership, management, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop long-term scalable architectural direction, with a focus on design, usability and user experience. You will be responsible for maintaining a high bar of quality and a great end-to-end experience on all platforms. You will drive the creation of processes and tools to support multiple platforms, continuous scaling and product expansion.
  • Partner with designers, product and program management functions to set road maps, and plan the development and delivery the best user experience.
  • Work across the executive team to deliver on our business goals and create tight cooperation and coordination between matrixed teams.

UNI is world’s leading platform which organizes design challenges, is seeking a full-time Community Support Associate (contracted) to join our team.

As a part of UNI, you will be supporting a community who are looking to solve some of the most challenging design problems in the world. Our talented team of designers, developers, and community managers work hand-in-hand to create a revolutionary product that connect and empower the creative world.

We have a community of over 200,0000 members and more than 10,000 projects of creative work. The Community team – the “eyes and ears” of the brand – is the front line of communication. We answer questions, help members use our products correctly, advocate for features they want, and generally make sure they have everything they need to succeed.

The Community Support Associate (contracted) will be working with our COO, as well as directly with our global membership to answer questions and help our users feel supported and empowered to use the site. You will also identify problems and ensure all areas of UNI to run smoothly by working with our development team.

This is a full time (M-F 9a-6p), paid, contracted position that will build your skill set to help jump start your career in tech.

We strive to provide the best user experience to our members, and Community Support is our most important tool for collecting feedback on how our members use UNI – then using this to improve our products.


  • Working with our COO to provide product support to our community.
  • Balancing a high number of support tickets while prioritizing the most urgent questions
  • Drafting materials that will help members use UNI and it’s services to its full potential and improve the support infrastructure (FAQs, tutorials, and other resources)
  • Being a “bug detective,” and identifying what problems need to be escalated for fixing to help our team to run the product perfectly

Designers — and design thinking — are an essential part of the culture and the product creation process at UNI. We design and develop all of our products internally, which means that you will only have one client: us and our users. UNI is the first of its kind platform for designers, and researchers to identify and curate challenging design problems for the student and young professionals. At UNI we are looking for an Associate Curator who can work closely with our internal curation team and external curators (these curators are usually design professor, research scholars or highly experienced industry professionals). An ideal curator is a curious, articulate, and intelligent creative writer — someone who wants to push the boundaries to make the world a better place using design.

You should have a proven track record of producing pieces that increase curiosity and stimulates deep thought process among the readers. This position requires a high level of creativity, as well as the ability to use insights to build better context for these challenges based on current affairs. The candidate should also be detail-oriented. Preference will be given to those with a strong writing portfolio, and relevant work experience.

About you:

  • You love studying, learning and researching about architecture. (Most important)
  • You are looking to build your career in the sector of architecture media, web and/or ed-tech sector
  • You are fast at composing, creating architectural graphics and illustrations.
  • You have a good command on functional English and can write comprehensive written pieces.

We are looking for student architecture enthusiasts who can contribute to UNI part-time via compelling editorial capabilities. Your role will be to articulate design briefs and/or blog posts and/or design news for our community. We’re looking for someone who will help us expand our digital footprint and drive more value through online content. The applicants need to have good command on functional English, and a deep-rooted interest for architecture or architecture design at large. This position requires a high level of creativity, as well as the ability to use data-driven insights to write better content. Preference will be given to those with strong writing skill. Please do not forget to add any architectural design report, dissertations or any article that you have written in the past.

What you’ll do

  • You will use our platform to generate meaningful content and articles for the design community.
  • You will work closely with our content lead and generate content on pressing issues with our content manager.
  • You will have the freedom to choose the topic of your content
  • You will review some of the award-winning projects on our platform
  • You will review some of the most interesting problems curated by our curator and make any required changes in the same.

About you:

  • You love studying, learning and researching about architecture. (Most important)
  • You enjoy working in the design studio, exploring multiple concepts/ variations/ ideas quickly.
  • You are interested in exploring new opportunities in the sector of architecture, media and technology.
  • You are competent in using google docs or Microsoft word – office suite.
  • You have a good command on functional English and can write comprehensive written pieces.
  • You can balance this part-time role next to your academic responsibilities.
